It's gone. My beautiful Meg has gone! It's found a new home where I'm sure it will be well cared for and bring the owner many hours of safe diving.

So now I have no unit and no twinsets - having sold all 5 sets within a couple of months of buying the Meg. Ooops....

I have ordered a new unit but it won't be with me until February at the latest and then I'll have do some kind of unit crossover. Looks like a very dry January - excluding puddle diving doing demo days with scooters which doesn't count. Feels weird...

JJ. It's everything I have spent the last 2 years trying to turn the Meg into.

It looks like Feb before I can get my mitts on it but at least they exist, they're shipping today and I've dived one already; unlike say.... The APOC.

The JJ certainly seems to be making a very good impression and all the write ups so far have been very favorable.

Hopefully you can show it to me when we're up in Scapa in April biggrin.gif

Care to explain that as the Meg was one of the units I have been looking at.

The Meg is a great unit. Excellent WOB, modular, well made using the highest quality materials, high flood tolerance - you get the picture. It's designed and built by ex-US military guys who are the size of proverbial outhouses with little or no thought to the fact that not everyone on the planet are as big as they are. I'm somewhere between slim and damn skinny so what fits a bloke who is 20+ stone swamps me. The Meg OTS CL's are front mounted on me - in fact they go around me with some to spare. The Meg BMCLs are OTS CLs on me. The BMCL's on the JJ fit me fine giving me back my chest area.

I loved my COPIS but there are times when I wished it was an eCCR due to depth limitation and the general 'busy' nature of an ascent on mCCR. Turning the COPIS into an APECs was an option but I didn't want the surplus controller. I just want one HUD and one wrist display that also does online deco - with the APECs you can have the Shearwater but you need to have the ISC handset too. The JJ is the configuration I want in this respect: Shearwater HUD and hardwired independent PPo2 display with nothing else.

When travelling overseas the most common 3Ls available at the other end are Inspo valves which the JJ uses. I have dived the Meg with Inspo valves and it was fine - I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with any nasty surprises in the water as the shutdown would have taken a moment longer to perform. It's also nice having the rails instead of fannying around with cylinder brackets.

So in summary the main reason was CL fit and getting an eCCR without the unnecessary handset. The more common valves and the rails are very nice but I wouldn't have switched for them alone.

It's now looking like it could be March before I can get the JJ due to issues with the Predator controllers. 3 months without a unit... Not good and it doesn't give me much time with it before my first trips. They can't supply with the Pursuit anymore which would have been my preferred solution. Arse.
